Sustainable Mining
Armex is committed to reducing and eliminating long term environmental damages of its mining activities by making its mining projects generationally sustainable. We do this by employing industry-leading, proactive remediation strategies that surpass the standard. and prioritizing the use of green hydro-electric power with reduced dependence on fossil fuels.

Armex follows a strict “Contain and Control” approach to potentially harmful substances and processes, including operation of tailings ponds and water management. Historically, mines focused on quick recovery of economic metals while leaving large quantities of metal sulphides behind. These sulphides, if exposed to the environment, can produce a form of sulphuric acid which dissolves toxic heavy metals that find their way into the water system, potentially causing disastrous effects on plants and wildlife. We are focused on recovering as much of the sulphides as possible during processing, reducing potentially deleterious substances, and leaving our sites better than we found them.
This “Contain and Control” approach allows us to extract the maximum amount of commercially saleable metals while sequestering potentially damaging metals. It also has the dual effect of reducing the volume of material treated (which improves our metal recovery) and reducing the amount of sulphides left in the residual tailings, so they can then be safely 'dry-stacked' at surface or rendered inert for underground paste-backfilling, thereby eliminating or significantly reducing potential threats to the environment.
